There is a program in Belize where you can stay for up to a year with just a tourist card. After this period, you can decide if you want to stay or leave. The Belize tourist card is the most common way to get to stay in Belize for a long period of time. When you get to the island, all you have to do is to fill out a form which you will need to submit. The card is good for only 30 days. After a month, you have to go to the immigration office and renew the card. The people there will tell you to pay a fee of US$25. This card and fee will allow you to stay for another six months. If your 6 months are up and you are still undecided, you can easily get another six-month tourist card for US$50. When those six months are up, you will then have to decide if you want to settle here. That would be a period of a year and one month and perhaps that period is enough for you to decide on what to do. Another option you can take is to apply for your one year tourist visa in advance. You can only do this if you belong to the CARICOM, which is the Caribbean Community of Nationals. The countries that are part of CARICOM are Canada, Mexico, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and the U.S.A.
