how do i fix my 1985 toyota p/u 4×4 ????? it’s heart is broken!!?
while driving 10 mph i glanced over to a newer pu parked on the side of the road for sale and i just said,” i could live with that newer pu”…well then my 1985 pu ,which i have owned it’s entire life coughed and stopped running…it has NEVER given me a problem, it only has 120k miles. i did smell a faint smell of burnt wire.
since i live on a remote island in Alaska with no resident mech. , i am recruiting help…
1. no spark at coil hv terminal
2. 12 v to coil, ohms; .5 primary, 9 k secondary.
3. cranks ok ( normal speed) distributor turns & cap & rotor are ok.
4.all fuses ok, everthing else works.
5. timing chain is original- no ” slap” noticed ,never jumped time.
6. .7 v at black/ white wire plug to coil when engine cranks.
7. no burnt, rubbed, bent or stressed wiring – everything orginal, never messed with.
8. battery 6 months old , voltage 12.4 v at rest..
9. and yes i did ask it to forgive me for coveting a new pu… and that did not even help…..
More than likely that burnt wire is the deal it was more then likely shorted out and it’s affected what ever it was hooked up to more then likely it was a short to ground but you need to find a burnt wire it’s probably actually visable I was born in Anchorage and lived in Soldotna, but send me a message if you find anything else out check the wires under there…
