Friend and I starting a buisness.?
Me and my friend want to start a buisness. I’m not so sure what it is called though but I can describe it. We were looking at islands for sale and we want to buy an island that can fit 10 homes, 2 resturaunts, and a store. We want to have a business of renting the houses to people looking for a vacation in the summer. How many acres should we be looking for and what is the best location (many visitors). And any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

You need an island at least 1 mile long and 1/2 mile wide. Anybody staying on your island needs something to do besides sitting in or next to their rental looking at the ocean or eating in your restaurant. They need some room to walk around, explore a bit, find someplace to be by themselves outdoors. You can’t just pack them into a few acres and expect them to be happy. You’ll need tennis courts, a golf course or at least a hitting green, beaches for swimming and tanning and beach combing, etc. Perhaps a jogging trail, bicycle rentals, that sort of thing. Just ask a number of your friends what they would want to do on an island and pick the most popular suggestions. If there’s nothing to interest a person for at least 10 days, you won’t get any repeat business and word-of-mouth will soon reduce your customers to a point where you can’t make any money.
